How to Verify a Domain

Verifying a domain is a critical step in managing your organization's directory in OfficeSeries. This process confirms ownership of the domain and is essential for the security and integrity of your organization's data and resources. This guide provides detailed instructions for verifying a domain.

Prerequisites

Before verifying a domain, ensure that you have specific administrative rights, such as being a Domain Administrator in OfficeSeries. Additionally, you should have access to your domain provider's website or your corporate DNS settings, and be familiar with the OfficeSeries interface, particularly the "Directory" and "Domains" menus.

Steps in Verifying your Domain in OfficeSeries

To verify a domain in OfficeSeries, follow the step-by-step instructions below:

  1. Log into OfficeSeries: Sign in to your OfficeSeries account with administrative privileges.

  2. Navigate to the Directory Menu: Access the "Directory" menu from the dashboard.

  3. Select the Domains Submenu: Choose the "Domains" submenu.

  4. Initiate Domain Verification: If you have previously added a domain, locate it in the list and click the Start Domain Verification button. If you haven't added a domain yet, follow the steps to add a domain first. For more details on adding a domain, refer to our Adding a Domain Guide.

  5. Log in to Your Domain Provider's Website: Access the website where your domain's DNS settings are managed.

  6. Access DNS Settings: Navigate to the DNS settings page for your domain.

  7. Add a New TXT Record:

    • Name/Host/Alias: Set this to _gbauth.<your domain name>. Use the Copy button to copy this value accurately.
    • Time to Live (TTL): Set this to 1 hour or 3600 seconds.
    • Value: Set the value of the record to the provided value. Use the Copy button to ensure accuracy.
  8. Save Changes: Confirm and save your DNS settings.

  9. Validate the Domain: Once you've added the TXT record, it may take some time for the changes to propagate. When you're ready, return to OfficeSeries and click the Validate button to check if the domain verification is successful.

For more detailed instructions on managing domains, refer to our Managing Domains Guide.

Summary

Verifying a domain is a straightforward process in OfficeSeries but requires attention to detail, especially when configuring DNS settings. Once verified, your domain is confirmed as part of your organization's directory, enhancing the security and management of your resources.
